[14:16] <topi`> jimbaker: indeed, I need to resume my studies of twisted's "deprecated" magic and jython
[14:17] <topi`> I just happily hacked it (to get things to work) by removing the offending deprecations ;)
[14:30] * enebo (~enebo@c-75-73-8-169.hsd1.mn.comcast.net) Quit (Quit: enebo)

[15:00] <jimbaker> topi`, are you able to run trial with your hacks?
[15:11] * robbyoconnor (~wakawaka@guifications/user/r0bby) Quit (Max SendQ exceeded)
[15:12] * robbyoconnor (~wakawaka@guifications/user/r0bby) has joined #jython
[15:32] <topi`> jimbaker: can't remember, I'll try to find out
[15:32] <topi`> I wonder where my hacked trial is... which host, which directory... *sigh*
[15:34] <topi`> jimbaker: as of late, I've fiddled with image processing on python & numpy :) FFT is such a useful tool, and I found a nice tool to speed up my calculations in "raw" python, Parakeet
[15:35] <topi`> pip install parakeet, and then you use @jit deco to speed up a given func, it compiles that func at import time, and boom, instant 100x speedup :)
[15:35] <topi`> like Cython, it supports only a subset of python, but no stupid manual typing!
[15:36] <topi`> instead the compiler generates *all* possible combos for input datatypes, and switches at runtime
[15:37] <topi`> what I'm wondering is... if it would be possible to do just the same, but transform python->java instead of python->c and compile to java bytecode?
[15:38] <topi`> we know javac can create pretty lean numeric code
[15:45] * chrisseaton (~chrisseat@79-76-241-231.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com) has joined #jython
[16:11] <jimbaker> topi`, in principle, yes, although i think you don't have to work as hard with java
[16:11] <jimbaker> for java 9 they are finally trying to address some performance issues as well with better support for arrays and value types, so these can be intrinsified
[16:29] <jimbaker> there must be a way to work with pull requests on bitbucket that is less painful

[18:47] <jimbaker> looks i have found a way to least merge pull requests in bitbucket, and have them shown as merged, while still being able to test them. i don't know i would want to do that sort of workflow... ;)
[18:48] <jimbaker> (presumably it would be less awkward if https://bitbucket.org/jython/jython wasn't a mirror)
[18:49] <jimbaker> and my sarcasm apparently got mangled in my typing. "i don't know why i wouldn't want..."
[19:09] <whg> heh
[19:09] <whg> jimbaker: How should we meet up at the OpenStack Summit?
