[13:09] <jimbaker> made some good progress last night - my jython-socket-reboot branch is now at 96.4% (164 of a total of 170 tests)
[13:09] <jimbaker> of the remaining 6 tests, only one actually hangs
[13:09] <jimbaker> sorry of test_socket of course :)
[13:10] <jimbaker> even more importantly, the entire regrtest now runs to completion, which has been the bigger problem
[13:10] <jimbaker> so beta 3 is now truly in sight
[13:11] <jimbaker> biab, time to trail run

[17:04] <jimbaker> this is a very convenient listing of pypi packages using wheel now - http://pythonwheels.com/

[17:33] <topi`> jimbaker: I'm a 3-hour train trip away from Helsinki ;)
[17:34] <topi`> but my physical server is in Helsinki and it recently crashed, so I need to go there and do some maintenance, perhaps swap hardware
[17:37] <topi`> jimbaker: what do you think of wheels? It seems that some of the problems with eggs, originally, are still present in wheels. Handling of binary .so's is never straightforward, I guess
[17:38] <topi`> but maybe if you have your build setup for your cluster of machines, rolling up wheels to deploy on all machines is dead simple
[17:50] <jimbaker> topi`, to be honest i haven't really developed an opinion yet. but it seems to make sense for more restricted scenarios like the cluster setup you mention
[17:50] <jimbaker> topi`, btw - i'm looking at visiting finland next month. how close are you to helsinki?
[18:30] <jimbaker> topi`, that was easy, i just added support for wheels in jython-socket-reboot branch - just required repatching distutils.command.install with a change we made to support jython
[18:50] <jimbaker> agronholm, what would it take to run futures on jython 2.7? just curious, given the entry for the futures project in http://pythonwheels.com/
[19:02] * zz_whg is now known as whg
[19:08] * Trundle (~andy@python/site-packages/trundle) has joined #jython
[19:47] * chrisseaton (~chrisseat@79-76-240-254.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com) has joined #jython
[20:28] <agronholm> jimbaker: what do you mean?
[20:29] <agronholm> futures should work just fine on jython
[20:53] * whg is now known as zz_whg
[21:13] <jimbaker> agronholm, never mind, i was just not reading the qualification properly - multiprocessing; python_version == '2.5' and platform.python_implementation != 'Jython'
[21:13] <jimbaker> maybe add a tag that it works on jython?
[21:14] <jimbaker> pjenvey, so mirroring is still not there for https://bitbucket.org/jython/jython; i tried to push up the latest manually, but apparently i do not have permissions to do so
[21:14] <jimbaker> (I had been waiting for their IT upgrade to complete... this seems to be the case)
[21:14] <jimbaker> getting remote: abort: pretxnchangegroup.bb_perm hook failed
[22:17] * enebo (~enebo@c-75-73-8-169.hsd1.mn.comcast.net) Quit (Quit: enebo)
[22:23] * Trundle (~andy@python/site-packages/trundle) Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[22:28] <pjenvey> jimbaker - I pinged them a day or two ago on that ticket, they followed up with give them a few more days (due to their upgrade I guess)
[22:28] <pjenvey> hopefully that'll be the case... =]
[22:29] <jimbaker> pjenvey, ok, it's just sort of embarrasing
[22:30] <jimbaker> so i was wondering if we can just directly update the mirror?
[22:30] <jimbaker> pjenvey, btw, i have been recently touching your work around distutils, so as to support the python wheel format. just minor changes of course
[22:44] <pjenvey> cool, be nice to see the newer pip with all the wheel goodness working
[22:44] <pjenvey> and wheels install much quicker than eggs, that might be significantly quicker on jython
[22:53] <jimbaker> pjenvey, i expect socket reboot to be merged into trunk within a week. maybe less
[22:56] <pjenvey> nice
[23:04] * robbyoconnor (~wakawaka@guifications/user/r0bby) has joined #jython
[23:15] <jimbaker> hmmm, i appreciate that there's tox and everything. there must be some way to run tox such that it doesn't depend on virtualenv when using trying to test virtualenv's dependencies
[23:15] <jimbaker> so i might have found the minimal change for virtualenv - use JYTHONPATH not PYTHONPATH
[23:16] <jimbaker> but virtualenv wants to use a wheel for pip, not my branch. for which i'm trying to actually run these tests :)
[23:16] <jimbaker> but the python loves to eat its tail, i hear ;)
[23:18] <jimbaker> anyway, time to join #pylib to see if this can be done
