[13:48] <DanC_> does anybody here use jython from eclipse, with pydev? I'm struggling to get JDBC drivers to work
[13:48] <agronholm> I do, though I haven't used jdbc
[13:49] <DanC_> well, do you use any java libraries?
[13:49] <agronholm> yes
[13:49] <DanC_> how do you get pydev to find them?
[13:49] <agronholm> I add them to the search path from project settings -> pydev
[13:49] <DanC_> hmm... actually, I need one Java library (JDBC) to find another (oracle driver)

[16:37] <fwierzbicki> So I'm thinking about changing the *private* names in imp.java in our 2.5 to exactly match the names in cpython's import.c -- including the underscores. Since imp.java has so many underscores already, and since import.c is so tricky to get exactly right I think this will help me get it right.
[16:39] <fwierzbicki> anyway first I'll try to get it to work right - I won't push anything like that today

[18:37] <jimbaker> fwierzbicki, sounds like a good plan to me
[19:19] <pjenvey> whatever helps I guess
[19:19] <pjenvey> I was tempted to rewrite core/imp a number of times, never pulled the trigger though. really quite nice that importlib landed in 3.3

[20:32] <fwierzbicki> pjenvey: I can't wait - that reason alone makes me think I'll take the bigger plunge and go for 3.3 instead of 3.2 when the time comes.
[20:33] <fwierzbicki> ok I think I'll just do it since I have the go ahead from you two (I think the two of you and I are the last 3 to touch imp.java)

[23:19] <eanxgeek> looing for the definitive answer, TestNG and Jython, will this work?
[23:20] <agronholm> is your code mostly java or python?
[23:21] <eanxgeek> well that's the thing currently I do not have any code, we are "comparing" JVM supporting languages
[23:21] <eanxgeek> i.e. jruby, clojure, groovy, jython etc... and we use selenium to test WebUI applications
[23:22] <agronholm> if your code is mostly python, I would recommend nose for testing
[23:22] <eanxgeek> It seems TestNG support is a must have
[23:22] <eanxgeek> well I would actually use pytest
[23:22] <eanxgeek> in that case
[23:22] <agronholm> if you only use python as a scripting language for your java app, then you should probably use junit or testng
[23:24] <eanxgeek> we are looking for the benefits of a Java based framework that mutliple projects could leverage and choose their language of preference.
[23:24] <eanxgeek> i.e. if our framework is Java then in theory Jython, jruby, clojure, etc... could all leverage the same framework
[23:24] <agronholm> well I can't give you a definitive answer
[23:25] <eanxgeek> I'm finding the same to be true on the web unfortunately
