[6:39] <sina> i tried to port it manually to java but even though its written in decent OO python, its just so huge itll take me forever
[6:39] <sina> is it possible for me to convert duplicity into a jar using jythonc? i tried bu i have nfi what im doing

[18:46] <averagehat> Does anyone have any experience with jython-scala interop? Specifically calling scala from jython
[19:25] <jimbaker> averagehat, there was a good presentation on this at pycon a few years ago
[19:26] <jimbaker> but basically - just make sure you have classes that are callable from java. easy way to do that in scala: extend java interfaces
[19:27] <jimbaker> iirc there has been work in scala recently so that they look more like java classes. but there's a lot of things one can do in scala - much like in jython - that don't have direct counterparts to java. so extending java interfaces ensures compatibility
